Generic consumer Grievances and Suggestions from the conference Review by IPPAI on 03 Feb 2011
The Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI) had organized a conference titled “Consumer Issues in Power: Solutions and the way forward”, on February 3, 2011 in Mumbai with the support of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC).
A broad spectrum of consumers of electricity including representatives from industry associations, railways, licensees, chemicals, fertilisers and steel companies, discussed their problems with the Commission and with the speakers from the government of Maharashtra, and electricity utilities from the public and private sectors.
Based on the issues raised and grievances aired by consumers at the conference and subsequent discussions, the following suggestions were prepared for the kind perusal and consideration of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission:
