The promoter family of Suzlon is looking at growth opportunities in the infrastructure space. It is banking on the experience gathered through the company’s infrastructure arm, which has been building projects in various countries, They will be addressing the infrastructure EPC market through Synefra Engineering & Construction Ltd.
Synefra is a privately-held company controlled by the Tanti family with JR Tanti heading it as managing director. It was earlier known as Suzlon Infrastructure Limited and was an associate company of Suzlon Energy.
Sanjeev Nakhasi, corporate vice-president (operations), said they were till now handling growth at Suzlon. Now they are going to cater to the external market and this is a long-term plan. The turnover of the company last year was $50 million and it is expecting 30-35% growth y-o-y.
“Infrastructure would be a big space in the next seven to eight years and would witness massive investments. We want to be a player in this market,” Nakhasi said.
Suzlon Infrastructure was into developing wind farm sites and construction of necessary infrastructure for such projects and their complete execution. Suzlon Infra has executed 120 projects till date.
